Automated Traffic Cameras
Safety First
Automated traffic cameras have been installed to protect children and pedestrians in parks and school zones by reducing speeding. Clear signage will alert drivers to camera locations. The speed camera enforcement program began with a warning period for each camera, giving motorists time to change their driving habits before payable notices of infraction began immediately following the grace period. Revenue generated from citations will be reinvested into public safety and traffic-calming measures, further supporting a safer environment for all residents.
Fine Amounts
| Speed | School Zone | Park Zone |
| 6-10 MPH Over | $180 | $125 |
| 11-15 MPH Over | $230 | $145 |
| 16-20 MPH Over | $280 | $145 |
| 21+ MPH Over | $290 | $145 |
If You Received a Ticket
If a driver speeds, the vehicle's registered owner receives a Notice of Infraction (NOI) from a company called ZeroFatality on behalf of the Mukilteo Police Department. **Photo enforcement violations are not reported to the Washington State Department of Licensing and do not go on your driving record.
Follow these steps if you receive a citation (additional instructions on NOI):
- Pay your ticket or submit a formal response via zerofatality.com, mail, or in person by the due date on your NOI. **All card payments, regardless of online or in person, include an additional processing fee.
- Decide how to respond. See Related Documents on the sidebar.
- Affidavit of Non-liability. Exceptions of responsibility apply only if the vehicle was sold, stolen, or was in the care, custody, or control of someone other than the registered owner(s).
- Request for Determination on Written Statement (eHearing). There is no option to appeal the decision.
- Financial Hardship & Payment Plan Application.
- Request a Mitigation or Contested Hearing. Submit a request on zerofatality.com or complete and mail the section on the back of your NOI.
- If you are requesting a hearing, decide which format will work best for you. Hearings are generally held every Thursday.
- In-person hearing at Mukilteo City Hall.
- eHearing with a supporting written statement. There is no option to appeal the decision.
- Wait for a response from the Office of Administrative Hearings regarding decision or scheduled hearing date. If you have not received a response by the due date on your NOI, please reach out to court@mukilteowa.gov.
